WFH
I know it’s happening more for me these days and almost everyone I know – my entire team is WFH (Working From Home) today. With rising prices for gas, bridge tolls, and public transit (like BART in SF) – working from home is becoming more prevalent. Since I can IM my co-workers, and view others desktops remotely (a la WebEx and Go-To Meeting) – there are more tools than ever to keep you functioning and effective from somewhere other than your office.
With this trend come concerns over productivity. Finding the right fit between an individual, their role and the organization I think is one of the most important things you can do to achieve successful results. Each element can be good – but if they don’t fit together success will be difficult. Having a right person in a wrong job is bad for everyone. Now that “Goin’ Mobile”is more common, finding the characteristics of a successful mobile worker and manager must be taken into consideration.
I think this article brings up some good things to consider if you‘re a manager of mobile workers or if you’re a mobile worker yourself - check it out.
Bye – I’m Goin’ Mobile
