And please take care of this, and this, and this, and…

The more that is being asked us, the more we want from the tools we use to get the job done. We all have rising expectations about what our mobile devices should do for us. More and more is what we’re used to. And more is more being offered.

The demand is there, the supply is there, and IT is in that tough spot in the middle. It looks like, according to this survey from the WES 2008 Conference that enterprises are stepping up to say “ok” to more and more mobile applications even while security concerns are the number one road block to the adoption of enterprise mobile applications.

We all want a little more - is that so wrong? As long as it’s safe.

3rd Option is a charm (aka Y DIY?)

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

He may be from across the pond, but the issues around mobility solutions are the same.  This guy is talking about what to consider when selecting an Enterprise Mobility solution - and he’s comparing and contrasting managed service solutions with DIY…I contend that there is a third option to be considered - on-demand.  But I think his evaluation criteria for a solution is right on.

Time to get started

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Daily I fight against procrastination - so I always respond well to a “Just Do It” type of motivation. I thought this was an interesting article about enterprise mobility management - and that it’s time to get started. I personally agree with the “lack of preceived need” being a primary factor that is keeping folks from taking action, and most people and organizations can’t afford to not know what they have and what they’re spending where, with who & why.

Enterprise Mobility is a growing concern for CIOs and each company has a different way of dealing with expenditure around mobility. (more…)

Why MobilityCentral Now?

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

For one, as people start to abandon their desktops and laptops in favor of smart phones, and IT struggles to maintain control, companies will need to find ways to manage these devices.  MobilityCentral is positioned to do just this because of our unique people-centric view of a company’s workforce.  One employee can have a data card, a mobile phone, and a BlackBerry, all on different networks, with nothing in common except the person using the devices.  All roads lead to the user – the only common feature of these different items.  The best way to manage these devices is to look at the landscape from the point of view of the user – hence our people-centric view.  We don’t require specific equipment or a specific network to manage your mobile enterprise users. You don’t know what you don’t know…

You are moving around with more technology in your pocket than most engineers had access to in a lab just fifteen years ago. Color displays, touch sensitive screens, and stereo sound – and those are just the “skin-deep” features. Think of the memory, the processor speed and the ubiquitous connectivity, and we’re talking serious brains to go with these beautiful objects we casually toss in our pockets and purses - our cell phones! Enterprise Mobility is…

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

We have had one-on-one discussions with 36 companies in the last 60 days to talk about Enterprise Mobility and the challenges related to this fragmented and confusing environment. And the confusion starts with the definition of Enterprise Mobility. Depending on the organizational perspective and the current pain, the definition varies. (more…)
