Another SaaS-y Thought

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Last week I blogged about an article that was comparing the benefits of Do-It-Yourself versus a Managed Service – and I tossed a third hat in the ring – SaaS. (3rd option is a Charm) And what do you know – here it is!

From Enterprise Mobility World, here’s an article “Benefits of Software as a Service” (SaaS). This article goes through the various categories of benefits that the SaaS model offers enterprises. I think it tells a good story.

But then again, as I’ve told you already, I’m SaaS-y…and I’m not alone.

And please take care of this, and this, and this, and…

The more that is being asked us, the more we want from the tools we use to get the job done. We all have rising expectations about what our mobile devices should do for us. More and more is what we’re used to. And more is more being offered.

The demand is there, the supply is there, and IT is in that tough spot in the middle. It looks like, according to this survey from the WES 2008 Conference that enterprises are stepping up to say “ok” to more and more mobile applications even while security concerns are the number one road block to the adoption of enterprise mobile applications.

We all want a little more - is that so wrong? As long as it’s safe.

3rd Option is a charm (aka Y DIY?)

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

He may be from across the pond, but the issues around mobility solutions are the same.  This guy is talking about what to consider when selecting an Enterprise Mobility solution - and he’s comparing and contrasting managed service solutions with DIY…I contend that there is a third option to be considered - on-demand.  But I think his evaluation criteria for a solution is right on.

I’m just SaaS-y.

Time to get started

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Daily I fight against procrastination - so I always respond well to a “Just Do It” type of motivation. I thought this was an interesting article about enterprise mobility management - and that it’s time to get started. I personally agree with the “lack of preceived need” being a primary factor that is keeping folks from taking action, and most people and organizations can’t afford to not know what they have and what they’re spending where, with who & why.

MobilityCentral was a Big Success at the WES2008 Conference!

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Visage|MobilityCentral had one of the busiest booths at the conference. The team was so occupied explaining our product, demonstrating its capabilities, and answering questions from the many visitors that there was barely time to pull out the camera. But, here are a few photo highlights from the conference.

Out of Control

Monday, April 28th, 2008

A recent article on the department of Natural Resources in Canada uncovers the issues and challenges organizations face today through the proliferation of cell phones, smart phones and other wireless devices to the majority of employees.

In addition to tracking devices, usage and spend, enterprises and government agencies need to establish mobile policies that match the diverse needs of their workforce,  reduce the cost of service and support of these complex devices in the hands of many and hold invididuals and their managers accountable for the use of these mission critical resources.   Attempting to manage this world with spreadsheets and carrier portals can be futile.

If you can relate to the issues outlined in this article, take a look at Visage Mobile’s unique people-centric approach to managed mobility.

Spring Cleaning (Gung Hay Fat Choy)

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Every year, before Chinese New Year, I make a special effort to do a deep clean of my kitchen. It’s important to get the New Year off to a good start and keep the Kitchen God happy. While I don’t know all the details, I do think it’s a good policy and I need external motivation to do an annual kitchen “Detailing”. (more…)
