A recent article on the department of Natural Resources in Canada uncovers the issues and challenges organizations face today through the proliferation of cell phones, smart phones and other wireless devices to the majority of employees.

In addition to tracking devices, usage and spend, enterprises and government agencies need to establish mobile policies that match the diverse needs of their workforce, reduce the cost of service and support of these complex devices in the hands of many and hold invididuals and their managers accountable for the use of these mission critical resources. Attempting to manage this world with spreadsheets and carrier portals can be futile.

If you can relate to the issues outlined in this article, take a look at Visage Mobile’s unique people-centric approach to managed mobility.

While I don’t know all the details, I do think it’s a good policy and I need external motivation to do an annual kitchen “Detailing”. (more…)

For one, as people start to abandon their desktops and laptops in favor of smart phones, and IT struggles to maintain control, companies will need to find ways to manage these devices. MobilityCentral is positioned to do just this because of our unique people-centric view of a company’s workforce. One employee can have a data card, a mobile phone, and a BlackBerry, all on different networks, with nothing in common except the person using the devices. All roads lead to the user – the only common feature of these different items. The best way to manage these devices is to look at the landscape from the point of view of the user – hence our people-centric view. We don’t require specific equipment or a specific network to manage your mobile enterprise users. (more…)
