Motorola rolls out first South Korean Android phone

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

South Korean mobile inventory management professionals will see a new wrinkle in their marketplace this week, as cell phone maker Motorola releases Motoroi, the country’s first Android-powered smartphone.

TMCNet writes that the Motoroi is an impressively feature-packed device, using a 3.7-inch WVGA display to show video and other content at 480 x 854-pixel resolution, far higher than the standard for its size. The Motoroi will also have five main displays, which can be customized to provide access to various wireless phone applications. The display will also be touch-sensitive.

The Motoroi will feature an 8-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p HD video, which TMCNet reports is the first of its kind released to the Korean market. Google’s Maps, Gmail, YouTube, and Talk applications will be available on the Motoroi.

Experts say that South Korea is one of the most tech-savvy societies on Earth, and that any device hoping to capture a significant share of such a wired culture will need to offer a wide array of highly advanced features. Time will tell whether the Motoroi is that device.ADNFCR-2628-ID-19566636-ADNFCR
